Bleakness is being so depressed about your situation you hang yourself. The situation in Greece has turned so desperate that migrants are doing just that to end it. Tens of thousands of migrants were trapped in Greece after its neighbouring countries closed their boarders and Greece has warned that it would not be turned into a ‘warehouse of souls’.

Yesterday, two men attempted to hang themselves in a square in the centre of Athens. One of the men, a Pakistani, was left unconscious after tying a noose made from twisted material to a tree.

 It is estimated that there are around 20 000 migrants who have stranded after Macedonia shut its border to anyone not Syrian or Iraqi. all migrant centres setup in the country are full and Greek authorities are having to use stadiums as temporary accommodation.

The UN’s refugee agency yesterday announced it is looking to lease entire hotels with hundreds of rooms for at least nine months.

More than 800,000 people last year arrived from Turkey on the Greek islands, where they got boats to Athens and then headed to the Balkans and continued their journeys up through Europe.

Macedonia is only letting 200 people through their boarders a day. Alexis Tsipras said Greece:

Will not accept turning the country into a permanent warehouse of souls with Europe continuing to function as if nothing is happening.
