Yesterday was a dramatic day at the South Gauteng High Court, the day’s legal proceedings in the sentencing of Radovan Krejcir cut short after a bomb scare was called in.
The premises underwent a decent going over from police and now court is back in session, Judge Colin Lamont not taking any prisoners.
A summary of what went down yesterday from News24:
On Monday, Krejcir, who represented himself, asked Judge Colin Lamont to recuse himself from the case, saying he was biased and dishonest.
Dressed in a short-sleeved white T-shirt, Krejcir, whose hands were chained and in handcuffs, failed to satisfy Lamont when making his submissions.
Lamont dismissed his application.Krejcir then asked Lamont for a postponement but Lamont also denied that request.
There have been numerous delays in the sentencing of Krejcir and his five co-accused since their conviction in August. The group was found guilty of attempted murder, kidnapping and dealing in drugs.
He was involved in the kidnapping and torture of Bheki Lukhele, whose brother, Doctor, allegedly disappeared with 25kg of the drug tik, which belonged to Krejcir.
Doctor worked for a cargo company at OR Tambo International Airport and Krejcir wanted his help to smuggle the drug out of the country.
