A week ago, we enlightened you on Dublin’s gang issue and kind of broke down what had happened: Kinahan drugs gang lieutenant David Byrne had been fatally shot in an alleged revenge attack after the shooting of Gary Hutch, an alleged snitch for rival Hutch family killed on Costa Del Sol.
Yesterday, David Byrne was laid to rest in what has been dubbed Ireland’s biggest gangland funeral in its history. Dozens of armed police led a massive security operation to ensure the safety – and protection – of the family from rivals. Described as a loving father with a sense of humour, the 34 year old was laid to rest after pallbearers carried the sky blue American style casket after ten black Mercedes limousines and two horse-drawn carriages with elaborate floral bouquets delivered it to the venue.
