We have a bit of a love hate relationship with Cell C in this office. After a short survey, we unanimously decided that both the quality and reception that the mobile network offers is poor – even if it is the third largest network in South Africa. But a few stances of theirs are making us reconsider.
First off, they offered to buy your contract for a maximum of R10 000 if you switched to their network. That was last year May. Then, in this whole OTT saga, they offered certain customers free Whatsapp calls. That was real. Now, they have doubled that initial offer to *drum roll please* R20 000. WOWEE.
But why? Cell C’s chief executive officer Jose Dos Santos explained:
Many prospective customers have been complaining about the excessive fees charged by our competitors to terminate their contracts in order to join Cell C.
That’s why we have doubled the contract buy-out offer to up to R20 000 and removed the requirement for customers to hand in their old device.
And to help, the network has released a range of packages just for those of you who are switching over.
