Since its debut in 1953 (yeah dude) Playboy has prided itself on being a great nude magazine. Always a little classy, great articles and stunning girls baring all. What could go wrong? Oh, the modern day feminist and “death of print”, that’s what.
But times do change and, although people may think the world is nose-diving into the worst case of PC ever encountered, let’s keep our fingers crossed its a smooth dive into a beautiful transition.
To appeal to the new mellinial readership, not only is the new issue the magazine’s first ever none-nude issue, it’s cover is made to resemble something you might see on Snapchat – and guys, it is sexy:
Hot damn.
The model is 20-year-old Sarah McDaniel who rose to fame using social media. Clever, hey? That’s the new age, yo. Playboy’s chief content officer Cory Jones had this to say on the subject:
A year and a half ago, we relaunched Playboy.com as a safe-for-work site, and traffic skyrocketed 400 percent. The average age of our visitors dropped from 47 years old to 30. It showed how the brand can still resonate.
Even the centre-fold is a graceful playmate, and in fact, Miss March is Ernest Hemingway’s granddaughter.
Dree Hemingway just doesn’t do it for me though.
While staying true to its provocative roots, the magazine’s all-new look also includes a new approach to photography, including unretouched images, and a roster of new contributors including James Franco.
I even might go get an issue. Surprised?
