As with any passing, saying au revoir to a highly accomplished individual is a sad affair. But will Benoit Violier's work continue with relish?

At the young age of 44-years-old, Frensh-Swiss chef Benoit Violier was found dead in his home just months after being named the best in the world. Benoit ran the Restaurant de l’Hotel de Ville in Crissier, a suburb of Lausanne in Switzerland.

Late in the afternoon, police… went to Crissier where they discovered at his home the body of Mr Benoit Violier.

Benoit was reportedly due to attend the launch of the new Michelin guide in Paris on Monday.

In December, Benoit’s restaurant, which he ran with his wife, Brigitte, boasts three Michelin stars and crowned the best restaurant by France’s La Liste ranking.

It’s wonderful, it’s exceptional for us. This ranking will only motivate our team more.

It is suspected that Benoit took his own life. RIP.
