There’s a long list of things more likely to kill you than being struck by lightning, although just try telling that to these two blokes from Down Under.
Nick Panayiotou and Daniel Dudman were hiding out in a boathouse in Sydney on Sunday, a massive thunderstorm raging outside, when they began filming. As you can see they got something of a skrik when a bolt of lightning struck just metres away. This from Huffington Post:
“That was a shocking experience, I tell you what,” said Panayiotou.
“There was a lot of static, a charge in the air. We were meters away from it and we felt it hit. We could have been struck,” Dudman added.
Had the lightning bolt hit them directly, they “wouldn’t be here today.”
Whilst they came away unharmed around 70 000 Sydney residents were left without power following the storm. Sounds like you Aussies just got Eskomed, excuse us if we enjoy a chuckle at your expense.
