We know the jeans pocket is good for carting around all the usual suspects (keys, wallet, phone etc), but what about that smaller pocket that sits above the regular one? I mean other than storing your naughty stuff what good can come of such a tiny storage space? Huffington Post to knock it out the park:

The Levi Strauss blog confirms [this] conclusion: “The first blue jeans had four pockets—only one in back and, in the front, two plus the small, watch pocket.

The pocket appears on the oldest pair of jeans in the Levi’s archives, which date to about 1879.

The blog did confirm that over the years this little pocket has served many functions – ‘condom pocket, coin pocket, match pocket and ticket pocket’.
