Wowzers. The Megacopter just beat the Guinness World Record by lifting 61 kg! What an amazing feat from the team who took 18 months to build the structure out just of aluminum and plywood!
This is the heaviest load lifted by a remote-controlled multicopter EVER!
With just 48 propellers, how did the team from the University of Oslo in Norway do it?
In order to be counted as ‘lifted,’ the lowest part of the payload had to be elevated to a height over 1 m (3 ft 3 in) for a minimum of 30 seconds.
WOW!
This means that rescue situations as well as deliveries for loads heavier than Amazon’s 25kg! Although the megacopter is legally registered to lift up to 150kg, it is unknown for how long, or high.
What does this mean for the future? White noise will turn into a gentle hum perpetuating the sound of millions of swarms of bees that once lived!
