Once upon a time, Coldplay attempted to get David Bowie to collaborate on a song with them. Now, if you’re into music, that’s like chalk and cheese. I mean, c’mon. Did Coldplay really rate themselves enough to attempt to get Bowie on board?
Well, this is what happened:
The lads contacted the legend through a letter as well as the song proposal that they thought had a “David-Bowie-type character”. Whatever that means.
Bowie replied:
It’s not a very good song, is it?
Coldplays’ drummer, Will Champion, said that Bowie was “very discerning – he wouldn’t just put his name to anything.” So discerning in fact, he didn’t even suggest writing another, better song. He just left it at that. Burn.
Nice try Coldplay. Instead of writing songs for others can you please go back to just being you. Thanks.
