Yoh, it has been a while since we heard of the confiscation of mandrax in our country, and this time it was found in the possession of two people in Bloem. The treasure was worth around R12 million on the street and it was found after the Hawks received information on a vehicle transporting the drug from Gauteng to Eastern Cape.
The vehicle [Hyundai delivery van] was spotted near the Verkeerdevlei Tollgate. It was followed and was stopped near Bloemfontein. The delivery van was searched and nothing could be found in the vehicle. The van was then taken to the South African Police Service State Garage for further investigation. A false compartment was found underneath the loading area of the vehicle.
They nearly got away with that one, hey.
Just underneath the loading zone of the vehicle, the Hawks discovered a self-made compartment with nine bags with 20 plastic packets containing mandrax tablets to the value of R12m.
The driver and his co-pilot were arrested and are set to be in Bloem’s Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday on the charges of dealing drugs. Tut tut, boys.
