It has been almost 15 years since 9/11 and America has an even bigger problem pertaining to the Islamic belief than ever before. This Islamophobia is a vicious cycle that in turn will push more Muslims into an anti-America/Western viewpoint just like the effects of 9/11 stirred up elements of ISIS. Now, HBO, the premium in original media content creation, is releasing a documentary which looks at America’s terrorism issue.
Homegrown: The Counter-Terror Dilemma, which premieres on 8 February, is the latest documentary from Gregory Baker. It takes a look at the changing face of terrorism in the U.S. almost fifteen years after 9/11. At 90 minutes, the feature examines the threat of self-radicalised individuals in the age of ISIS.
You could argue there are a lot more dangerous things than terrorism: cancer, obesity, gun violence. But that doesn’t capture America’s imagination as much as the threat from ISIS.
Now as much as all of this is quite apparent to some, it will take more than just a documentary to change the mindsets of others. News media, get your shit together.
