Ol’ Sean Penn has apparently lied about some things in the interview he did with Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman that was published through Rolling Stone on Saturday. This is according to the kingpin’s lawyer who said that Penn should be called to testify against his remarks reporting that El Chapo told him he is the world’s foremost drugs trafficker. Crazy, hey?
Other ill remarks include Penn quoting that El Chapo boasted about his shipments and laundering money through major Mexican and foreign companies.
This all came from Juan Pablo Badillo, one of a team of Guzman lawyers, who told Reuters:
It’s a lie, absurd speculation from Mr Penn.
In a way, yes, it does complicate it (his defense). Mr Penn should be called to testify to respond about the stupidities he has said.
He (Guzman) could not have made these claims… Mr Guzman is a very serious man, very intelligent.
Where’s the proof? Where’s the audio?
Perhaps Chapo’s thoughts got blurred at the site of Kate del Castillo and he was merely boasting about his feats.
Penn stated, however, that he was not allowed to record anything El Chapo said, yet the Mexican drug lord later sent Sean “a 17-minute video of answers after security issues stymied plans to hold a follow-up interview in person, and it does not contain the reported comments.”
Penn quoted El Chapo saying:
I supply more heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana than anybody else in the world. I have a fleet of submarines, airplanes, trucks and boats.
Representing the kingpin since 1993, Badillo said he was poised to file a legal challenge on behalf of Guzman against his being held in isolation.
Oh Sean, what have you gotten yourself into this time?
