Yesterday, the already-dry and dusty Free State got hit with a massive dust storm in areas around Bloemfontein. Although these storms are not unheard of during the drier, windy months of August through to November – the last one was in November last year – it is now January and the lack of rain due to the El Nino’s effects has seen the area drier than ever before.
