So it looks like this sequel is going to be rather epic, yesterday seeing the first two-minute preview for Independence Day: Resurgence hit screens in the U.S.
I’m sure you’ll notice there is no Will Smith, although the movie isn’t light on Hollywood heavyweights. Over to Rolling Stone:
Not much about the film’s plot is revealed, but Goldblum’s David Levinson says in voiceover that he spent the past two decades preparing the globe for the aliens’ return by harnessing the invaders’ own technology. Joining the cast this time around are Liam Hemsworth, Charlotte Gainsbourg, William Fichtner and Maika Monroe.
Independence Day: Resurgence, which also finds director Roland Emmerich and screenwriter Dean Devlin reprising their roles from the original, hits theaters [sic] on June 24th.
Let’s just be glad they didn’t ask Donald Trump to play the role of U.S. President in this one – if you think he isn’t fond of Mexicans and Muslims you should hear him rage about extraterrestrial life.
