Why Do We Serve A Hot Christmas Lunch In Boiling Hot South Africa? Masterchef Judge Gives An Alternative

Pete Goffe-Wood was in fine voice once more during his show on 2OV Radio, this time tackling the famed hot Christmas lunch.

Christmas is a wonderful time of year – just look past the annoying music and over the top shop displays and you have some of the things that really matter. Family, friends, food and an excuse to start getting festive from midday – I’m sold.

Now the Christmas lunch is a classic, all that piping hot food serving to warm those celebrating a White Christmas up from the inside. Of course it’s rather different in this neck of the woods, with late December being one of the hotter periods of the year.

2OV’s Aimee Eveleigh sat down with Masterchef judge and renowned foodie Pete Goffe-Wood and picked this concept apart, our resident expert offering some uniquely South African alternatives.

Check out from around the 20 minute mark for that, although you’d be advised to listen to most of what the firebrand critic has to say.
