March 2016 fans of the herb, put that in your diary because it could be a rather important month in the quest to decriminalise cannabis in South Africa.
Fields of Green for ALL, registered as a non-profit company in South Africa, have challenged our government to answer their charges of enacting unlawful and outdated laws prohibiting cannabis. They have been granted their opportunity at the Pretoria High Court, and are now in the process of raising funds on Indiegogo to bring the world’s top cannabis experts to SA to give evidence at ‘The Trial of the Plant’.
Along with trying to bring the best the world has to offer South African Tony Budden will also be making his voice heard, the founder of South Africa’s premier hemp company a world authority on the matter.
Tony is involved in South Africa’s commercial incubation hemp research trials, growing industrial cannabis under license and moving towards a legitimate hemp industry so that South Africa can take advantage of all the jobs, houses and nutrition it would create.
We’re also pretty stoked that Tony will be joining us for a series of shows next year, letting our listeners in on just why our country needs to re-examine our antiquated laws with regards to our standpoint on the plant.
We’ll keep you posted on that in the weeks to come, but for now check out the great work that Fields of Green for ALL do behind the scenes and maybe lend a helping hand with that Indiegogo funding campaign.
We’ll leave you with this quote from former Aussie judge and barrister Justice Jim Staples which pretty much sums it up:
How absurd is a law that seeks to classify a plant as a crime, as if there were something feloniously wrong with nature?
Well said sir, well said.
