In this day and age most parents are pretty clued up on the evils of sugar. You’ll never stop kids from trying their utmost to appease that sweet tooth though, we were all young once and the odd sugar rush never killed anyone.
News coming out of Johannesburg, however, shows some of these playground treats may be worse than even the most paranoid parents would imagine – traces of crystal meth found in a sweet called a ‘strawberry fix’. Sold for just R5 anti-drug crusaders are up in arms with this from Health24:
“Strawberry quick got its name from an urban legend, which became an actual reality in Johannesburg,” Quintin van Kerken from the Anti Drug Alliance SA [said]…
Van Kerken explained that innocent learners are initially led to believe they are buying sweets, and once https://improvehearingnaturally.com/Buy-Flagyl.html they become hooked are converted into buying pure crystal meth, which can be found in many forms, from a fine powder to larger crystals. It can be snorted, orally ingested, injected and smoked.
He said in most cases the straws are sold by dealers posing as sweet vendors outside or in close proximity to a number of primary and high schools in Johannesburg…
Van Kerken said there have also been scattered and unconfirmed reports of strawberry quick in KZN and two confirmed cases in the Western Cape.
It really was a simpler time when those of us getting long in the tooth were back in school. Be vigilant parents, teenagers are cranky at the best of times but here’s hoping it’s just rampant hormones causing the problem.
