You’ll Never Guess Who Has Been Voted The Worst Employer In South Africa (It’s Not The ANC)

The ANC might not own every corporate business in the country, but they sure do hold hands with a few and let them get away with just as much.

But the two are definitely closely related…

Cosatu has just named the Gupta-owned broadcaster ANN7 as the worst employer in the country after it was nominated by the Communication Workers Union (CWU) which represents its employees.

Apparently, ANN7 has a reputation for firing employees “willy-nilly” and, according to Cosatu president Sdumo Dlamini:

If you want to be recognised as a progressive media house, pay your workers correctly.

You have been rated the worst among the worst… Any other media house, we know these things are happening, workers tell us everyday what is happening and we are coming.

In November last year, journalist Asanda Magaqa was escorted off the company’s premises and at the same time, the CWU handed a list of “worker ill-treatment” complaints to ANN7 management.

ANN7 is primarily owned by Infinity Media which is co-owned by Oakbay Investments, which belongs to the Gupta family.
