If you’ve ever seen an advert for the US Army or Navy SEALS you’ll know that they don’t muck about. Stunts, high action, flags waving in the breeze and living the American dream – there’s a reason they are so effective in convincing young folk to sign on the dotted line.
Then there’s the Deniston Police Department in Texas, who have only now begun to catch the public’s attention with their effort from last year. The music, the smoke effects, the moment the beat drops and it gets kind of dubsteppy – it’s hard not to bop your head as you watch these coppers take down the bad guys. Jezebel taking the piss with this:
Sirens. Darkness. Static-filled radio dispatcher messages. Strobe lighting. Car chases. Foot pursuits. Crime scene photography. A drug bust that’s blocked like West Side Story, but with armed bicycle cops. The obligatory police dog, because everyone loves dogs. And weapons. So many weapons.
For a point of comparison I think we’ll have a look at a US Army recruitment ad from a few years back:
Fun drinking game – take a shot every time you see an American flag. Don’t expect to leave the house in one piece.
