If history is anything to go by I hope no one said the Matz Maersk Triple E is unsinkable, the largest ship the world has ever seen doesn’t need that kind of pressure hanging over its head.
Measuring in at an astounding 400m long and 60m wide some facts need to be strutted out in order to understand the magnitude of this beast. These below from Wired:
It can carry 18,000 20-foot containers; its propellers weigh 70 tons apiece; it is too big for the Panama Canal, though it can shimmy through the Suez.
There are also around 500 km of electric power cables running through the vessel, with the ship standing 73m high from top to bottom.
Whilst one Triple E has already been completed the South Korean shipyard is in the process of building eight more. Below are some shots of the completed boat as well as some individual components for the eight to come.
