We at 2ov are always stoked when good things happen to good people. As we are generally the first to report on most things local and wonderful, it’s brilliant to finally see some recognition from the masses.
Remember when we told you about that dude who made a sock drop in September? Well, Dave Hutchison’s initiative has finally received attention of local reporters over at the Times – so hopefully he’ll be able to make another drop very soon.
Hutchison, no stranger to trying his hand at entrepreneurial ventures, thinks of himself as socially aware. But it took finding Solomon, a rain-drenched and sock-less homeless man, on his doorstep to convince him to try his luck at making a difference. That came in the form of an innocuous closet essential – the humble, yet indispensable, sock. His aim? To make the sock sexy and benevolent.
Yup, that’s right. The Sexy Socks’ initiative, which aims to provide children in township schools with a free pair of socks, has got word out nationally, and hopefully this will in turn get everyone grooving with a sexy pair of socks.
With every purchase of Sexy Socks, a pair is given to a child in need. But why Sexy Socks? As the Times explained:
First, they’re made from eco-friendly bamboo fibre, so they’re the ”greenest” socks by far.
Second, they’re anti-bacterial, anti-odour and anti-chafe.
Lastly, they’re locally designed and produced in Cape Town.
So get yourself – and someone in need – a pair of Sexy Socks with a massive 30% discount code: earlychristmas. Buy local and go on, brighten up someone’s day while you’re at it.
