All hail Dan Carter, the flyhalf wrapping up 2015’s World Rugby player of the year with an astounding all-round performance in Saturday’s final.
Having missed out in 2011 with a pre-tournament injury this cup win will taste mighty good for Dan, his individual accolade handed over during Sunday’s awards ceremony the cherry on top. Here’s Stuff:
Carter was central to that grand final success, kicking 19 points, proving a mainstay on defence and igniting the attack. He was the man of the match.
It was Carter’s third time winning the player of the year award and was a sweet note to finish his test career on as he steps away from international rugby to take up a club contract in France.
Not a bad way to sign off mate, it hasn’t always been easy watching you destroy the opposition – Boks included. Click that very young-looking Dan Carter below to watch some of his career highlights.
If you were paying close attention this weekend you may have seen Carter convert that final try with his right foot, showing that it’s not only Jonny Wilkinson who can score with both feet in a final.
Try of the year was awarded to Julian Savea for this beaut against the French in that quarter-final trouncing.
Tough being an All Black fan, although if you live in South Africa and support the Kiwis then you should take a long hard look at yourself. Tsek.
