Here’s the other side of the whole police brutality saga: the killing of cops. So far this year 53 police officers have been died in the line of duty, but that’s just it, it’s in the line of duty. When the men and women decide to put on a badge and ensure the safety of the people of South Africa, they do so with the understanding that this country is infamously violent. And, although they have the power to arrest suspects and shoot (if in danger), it does not give them the right to take justice into their own hands – that is up to a judge.
In the video shared by Intelligence Bureau on Facebook, there’s a shootout between cops and an armed group of men where the cops are gunned down. There is no further information about the video (death, who, where, what etc) – only that the incident occurred in July (that’s if the time on the video is correct).
