The Boks might have bowed out of the tournament last weekend but that doesn’t mean we’re not watching the final. Ozzies or the All Blacks, it’s unfortunate that whoever wins will make history with their third title but we can be sure it will be one helluva rugby match.
Now you probably backed off from making final plans around 7PM last Saturday but we may as well go out with a bang, right? Anyone who has swung past the President Hotel during the tournament will know the vibe has been awesome, the Senate Bar forking out free shots for every try the Boks scored.
Those specials aren’t limited to match days only, mind you, with Happy Hour ‘buy one get one free’ deals on selected drinks between 5pm and 7pm every day. Not too shabby, we’ll drink to that.
On game day from 11AM until 10PM they run their famous Burger and Beer Special for R75, a 500ml Castle Light draught and a burger (with bunless option) the perfect way to enjoy the action.
The Senate Bar area has an HD big screen to ensure you can see Richie McCaw digging in the bottom of the ruck and not getting penalised, not to mention keeping an eye on how many times David Pocock emerges from the bottom of the ruck sporting a fresh shiner.
If you happen to be heading over in a group of 10 or more then be sure to make a booking and the President Hotel will organise a pick-up and drop-off point (within CBD and the Atlantic Seaboard) so you can arrive in style and get home safely.
On the day there will be spot prizes and drinks specials, meaning it becomes easier to drown our sorrows as one of our Southern Hemisphere rivals takes home the trophy. Keep an eye on the President Hotel’s Facebook page for updates on those specials.
We should also tell you about the hotel’s epic Halloween Gala Dinner, also on Saturday night, the whole venue kitted out in true Halloween style. The dinner is in honour of the Rainbow Academy’s fifth Birthday and will be MC’d by local legend Marc Lottering.
There are still a few seats left going for R1000 per per person, which includes a three-course gourmet dinner, eyeball martinis, sparkling wine, red and white wine pairings and top-notch entertainment by the Academy.
Oh and the Boks are playing today in that OTHER match tonight as well, but of course you knew that already. Those free shots for each try might just make the game worth watching…
