We all have that friend on social media who shares a hundred posts about animal welfare or another cause close to their hearts. It’s cool that they care, but what good does sharing or liking a post really have for those fighting the battle ‘on the ground’?
What if we said there was an initiative where clicking ‘like’ or ‘share’ on Facebook actually saw money donated to a good cause? Pretty nifty, but the best part is that you need not dig into your own pockets to help out.
Some creative and kind-hearted individuals have started R.A.W images, which stands for ‘Raising Awareness Worldwide’. R.A.W images takes photographic narratives to create understanding and empathy when considering the less fortunate of our communities.
They post an image of a particular individual in need, accompanied by their personal story. The photograph gains social traction from being “liked” and “shared”. They then invite corporates and individuals to sponsor the photograph where they make a donation of R1, R2, R5, or R10 per “like” or “share”.
At the end of the week, the sponsor makes a monetary donation to the amount of total “likes” and “shares” of the photo, which is given to Dare To Share who then purchase everyday necessary products to help improve the life of the beneficiary.
Images are watermarked with the sponsor company logo, thereby providing company exposure and brand awareness throughout social media platforms.
Here’s their first post which went live this morning:
See that, you can now be a hero just by throwing around a few clicks on Facebook.
I think this is one initiative we can all get behind- we spend enough time on Facebook anyway, and this is certainly time better spent than snooping on the ex.
