Something tells me a security guard at Browns Jewellers might be out a job, the CCTV footage showing a rather lax approach to the task at hand. You had one job mate, one job…
The store, located at the newly opened Mall Of The South in Johannesburg’s southern suburbs, was robbed on Monday and it looks like gaining entry wasn’t all that tough. Here’s eNCA:
In the video above, a man is clearly seen charming his way into the Browns store and greeting a female shopper.
As soon as he’s in, a second man pushes his way through the security gate with a mumble to the guard, who obliges and lets him through.
Suddenly a third man, wearing a hat and backpack, forces his way through with focussed determination, surprising the guard as he’s knocked back by the force and then cornered by the second suspect.
Simultaneously, a smoke grenade goes off, totally obscuring the scene.

The suspects then help up Browns Jewellers before exiting the mall, one man swiping a tray of rings from a Swarovski jewellery store on his way out.
Given the spate of jewellery store robberies around the country of late I think potential security guards may need a touch more training.
