Oh, goodness, it seems that the newest airline to hit South Africa’s skies is already seeing the red because of bad financial planning. It all began yesterday when Skywise cancelled two flights due to unknown reasons. The company took to Facebook to deliver their apology:
We experienced an unexpected technical fault this morning‚ hence the disruptions we are experiencing. The only flights affected were 105 & 112 the rest of the flights are expected to operate on schedule. Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience suffered. We will keep you updated should there be further developments.
And of course, Twitter came alive with tweets questioning customer’s refunds. @simsport was first on attack:
And it seems that Jullieta Lum (@jenonel1) created an account for the sole purpose of tweeting @SkywiseAirline. Hmmmm:
Only tweets from journalist Antoinette Slabber have provided possible insight into what’s really going on:
When one of the managing directors of SkyWise, J. Malik, was contacted via telephone, he was unable to provide a substantial answer to the questions about the lack of payment to Air Traffic and Navigation Services.
We are possibly going to have a press conference or reply in a press statement to everyone at once.
Could a none payment mean mismanagement or lack of funds within the company or just another case of an airline service going down. Let’s just wait for that press release.
