It won’t be the home comforts of his uncle’s mansion just yet for Oscar Pistorius, the Parole Review Board recommending that his release from Kgosi Mampuru prison is once again delayed.
Someone who wasn’t all that pleased with the finding was brother Carl, sending out this tweet after the news broke:
So what exactly went down that will keep Oscar behind bars? Here’s TimesLive:
Pistorius was expected to be freed on correctional supervision on the 21st of August. However‚ Justice and Correctional Services Minister Michael Masutha referred the decision to release him for review by the parole board‚ after discovering the convicted killer had been considered for parole just six months into his five-year jail sentence‚ instead of after 10 months as the law requires.
Today‚ the review board declined to free Pistorius.
It is not yet clear as yet when the parole board would again decide on the Paralympian’s case.
There could be worse to come for the disgraced athlete, the state’s appeal for a stronger sentence due to be heard in the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein on November 3. The state are pushing for a conviction on murder charges, meaning it may get worse for the Blade Runner before it gets any better.
