And here we have it, the Top 10 most expensive private schools in South Africa, as per their latest published rates.
Because there are so many permutations like day pupils vs. boarders and grade 8 vs. grade 10, we’ve decided to work with the full boarding fee for Grade 10 as a happy middle ground.
Are you sitting down?
1 – Michaelhouse – R225,000
2 – Hilton – R219,500
You’d think Hilton would use some of their school fees to update their hideous 90s-throwback website. I honestly thought I was on a joke website or that they had been hacked.
3 – St. Martins -R199,200
4 – St Andrews – R199,140 (missed the top 3 by 60 bucks)
5 – Bishops (Diocesan College) – R184,120
It’s surprising to note that the boarding fees are the same for all boarding houses at Bishops. Even though, for example, School House doesn’t have a lawn nor a sundial and lacks radically when compared to, say, Founders House. You would feel the parents of the School House boys might fee somewhat ripped off.
6 – Roedean School for Girls – R196,539
7 – Kearnsney – R195,800
8 – St Andrews School for Girls – R189,830
9 – St Stithians – R181,693
10 – St Alban’s College – R181,000
Wow – nice and punchy. Enjoy giving your children SA’s finest education.
In terms of actually affording the school fees listed above, we would recommend you either work very hard, or marry well, or win the big overseas lotteries or speak to a wealth management expert like our guys at Consequence Private Wealth.
