Aaaa, look at Putin trying to make right with famous British singers.
It all started when Elton told a newspaper about two weeks ago that he wanted to meet up with Putin to chat about the treatment of gay people in Russia. Soon after, Elton received a phone call from who he thought was the president and posted on Instagram, thanking Putin for the conversation.
The next day, the Kremlin denied the phone call happened, leaving Elton a bit confused.
Turns out, it was a prank from Russia’s prank master and slick TV show host, Vladimir Krasnov. Elton took it in his stride, noting that the incident was important and he was happy that awareness was being raised on the issue of gar rights – a matter he frequently takes up.
Around two weeks later, Putin contacted Elton John directly, suggesting that if their schedules ever had to coincide, the pair should meet up.
Putin called and said, ‘I know you were called by pranksters; don’t get offended by those guys, they are harmless, though this certainly does not justify their actions.
That’s all and well, but I wonder if Putin’s schedule will ever clear up for the gay rights activist. It would make for a very confrontational affair, I’m sure.
