The Dalai Lama’s Views On Women Are Quite Concerning [Video]

What happens when the person who's moral rights you have been fighting for turns out to be as questionable as the state who banned him suggested? Ooooh.

Deep.

The Dalai Lama was interviewed by BBC journalist Clive Myrie on the topic of the sweeping effects of the Syrian refugee crisis which is hitting Europe and the rest of the world. After chatting about the role that certain countries are playing, Clive asks him if the next Dalai Lama could be a woman.

Yes! The female biologically [has] more potential to show affection… and compassion.

Referencing a female reporter in Paris who asked him the same thing, he carried on with his answer.

Today in a more troubled world, I think females should take more important roles, and then I told that reporter, if a female Dalai Lama comes, their face should be very attractive.

The reporter then asked, in an attempt to allow Dalai Lama’s to rectify his response:

So you can only have a female Dalai Lama if they’re attractive? Is that what you’re saying?

But the Dalai Lama, unjokingly responded:

I mean if female Dalai Lama come, then that female must be very attractive, otherwise not much use.

Although the religious leader is admired for his tolerance, it seems his views on women may be on par with the majority of men around the world. His views of women’s compassion is questioning, but I like the fact that he recognises that females have a lot more considerate compassion than the male species.

Best though:

He has also said that same-sex relationships (as well as oral sex and masturbation) are “misconduct” in Buddhism, but can be “enjoyable and harmless,” for society.

Oh boy.
