Watching this video, my heart aches.
This year, the USA has been in the spotlight for the way its police officers treat black people, the killing of Trayvon Martin sparking the whole awareness. So, in saying this, you’d think that when in a crowd of people, picking on a 16 year old black kid while on his way to school would be done so with a little more tack. Obviously not.
On Tuesday, a large group of police officers violently forced Emilio Mayfield to the ground. For Jaywalking. Now, apparently cops are real hectic in California on peeps who just walk into the road, but wow, man, this is super extreme. According to police officers, this is what happened:
For safety reasons, the officer told the young man to get on the sidewalk. After the teenager refused to comply and used obscene language, the officer went over and a there was a scuffle.
This is what the dude who captured the video wrote:
The cop was telling him to take a seat, but the teen kept walking to his bus, but the cop kept grabbing his arm & the kid took the cop’s hand off his arm so the cop took out his baton & that’s when I started recording because everything happened too quick. He didn’t have to hit the kid with the baton & no need to call about 20 cops. And as you can see his body cam is on the floor. Smh
Deep. the best though, is the woman heard shouting:
That’s a f*cking kid!
But as one commenter stated:
One of these days, a cop is going to do this kind of shit and a very angry crowd is going to mob him.
Other officers arriving at the scene are going to react poorly and we are going to end up with several officers firing into a crowd.
It just seems inevitable. The wrong crowd, the wrong day, the wrong cops, and the wrong arrest. It’s going to happen eventually and I don’t what we are going to do once we get to the other side of it.
