So, this is what new urbanism is all about: using the space and what it has to offer to ensure you can live right on your own door step with all the luxuries in the world – including that delightful waterfront odour. Mmmmmmm.
The Yacht Club development in Rooggebaai just next to the V&A is set to have A-grade commercial space as well as 170 residential units (1-2 bedrooms) and hotel component. Obviously.
Apartments will range from 54m² to 95m² with a starting price of R2.4m. They will have good security features and the design will include energy-efficient features.
Construction – which will employ around 2 000 workers – is set to begin this year and end sometime in 2017. At a cost of R1.2bn, the development will be along the Roggebaai Canal where water taxis are present. So European.
All it takes is a short walk to connect with restaurants, shopping, banking, health clubs, entertainment and much more at the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town Foreshore and the CTICC node. The Yacht Club also has easy connections to major arterial roads and direct highway links across the city and to Cape Town International Airport.
Not lavish enough for you yet? Don’t worry – a R180m cruise-liner terminal will be developed just to the north of the Yacht Club just in case you need to escape quickly.
