The movie industry might seem glamorous from the outside in, but behind the scenes there is an awful amount of toil that goes into making those A-List celebs look as good as they do.
Milla Jovovich may be the star of Resident Evil: Final Chapter but that doesn’t mean she is doing her own stunts. That job belongs to South African-born Olivia Jackson, tragedy striking in Johannesburg over the weekend when Jackson was involved in a horrific accident. More from eNCA:
The stuntwoman has reportedly been put in a medically induced coma after crashing her motorbike into a crane on the Johannesburg set…
Jackson suffered severe head injuries and a punctured lung. She was reported not to have worn protective gear at the time due to the nature of the stunt…
Her husband and fellow stuntman David Grant said his wife was “fighting hard” on his Facebook page.
Jovovich took to Instagram to sing the praises of Jackson:
She then posted this to her Facebook page:
“I sit down to write this post with a heavy heart, because a terrible accident rocked our set on Saturday the 5th of September. My incredibly talented stunt double, Olivia Jackson, collided with a camera crane while performing a motorcycle stunt and it put her in the hospital with severe, multiple injuries…
“I wasn’t personally there to witness it, but from the reports I got, it was awful. None of us have experienced anything like this in our careers making action films and hope we never do again, but the production reacted very quickly to ensure she received the best care and also in reaching out to her family and making sure they were informed and looked after during this overwhelmingly difficult time. Thank God, they have been by her side through out this harrowing week. It’s a miracle that she survived.”
A few snaps of Olivia from happier times…
Here’s wishing her a speedy recovery.
