Shoppers at Cavendish Square in Claremont have been locked in various shops as an armed robbery took place in the upmarket shopping centre.
According to an account posted on OurHood – the private digital platform for neighbourhoods – an armed gang of men held up the Trigg Jewelers shop in Cavendish Square. It is not yet known exactly what transpired, as most shops locked their existing customers in.
The OurHood source was locked inside the @home store and had the following to report:
All of a sudden we were told not to leave the shop and the security guards locked us in. They did very well to reduce panic and let us sit on all the @home furniture and served us coffee. It was all very civilised. The security guards said an armed gang held up Trigg Jewellers.
Apparently the gang got away and there is glass all over the floor.
