Aaaaw, apparently Drakey-baby has some really bad court-side luck when it comes to his teams/side winning. Serena Williams lost to the unseeded Roberta Vinci on Friday and her fans took to Twitter to give slack to Drake.
Serena was on the road to making history as only the sixth player ever to win all 4 grand slams in a year…but that dream got derailed by Roberta, who beat Serena in 3 sets.
The pattern that Serena’s supporters noticed goes a little something like this:
After he was spotted lurking around the Seattle Seahawks’ locker room, a sports columnist blamed Drake for an ensuing loss in 2013. In February, Paul Pierce of the Washington Wizards shoved the rapper after he was clowning around a bit too close to the court (Drake’s team, the Toronto Raptors, actually won that one).
And in April, after the Kentucky Wildcats lost to the Wisconsin Badgers in the N.C.A.A. Final Four, Drake was said to have lost thousands of dollars and the respect of many basketball fans, who relied on the artistry of memes in their attempts to shame him.
The Miami Heat might agree with the bandwagon theory: A security guy who “clearly knows zero Drake songs,” according to Drake, did not let him enter the locker room after the team won the N.B.A. championship in 2013.
But fans of the rapper were quick to defend him, by reminding Serena’s supporters of Kim Kardashian’s involvement with the tennis champion just the night before, sharing Kim’s tweet of the pair sipping tea:
Although there are sources that are adamant – and are trying with all their might to prove the two are dating, according to Serena, Drake is a surrogate family member and according to Drake’s dad, he’s nothing at all to her.
Only time will tell.
