It would be fair to say that Bernie Madoff isn’t a very popular man with the general public, his involvement in one of the world’s largest ever Ponzi schemes cheating thousands of investors out of their life savings.

He does seem rather popular with TV execs though, Robert de Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer all set to play Bernie and Ruth in the upcoming The Wizard of Lies. The film will show on HBO with TIME having this to say:

Directed by Barry Levinson, The Wizard of Lies goes behind the scenes of Madoff’s Ponzi scheme, at the damage done to the victims and Madoff’s family. The movie is based on a book of the same name by Diana Henriques, with Truth and Consequences by Laurie Sandell providing additional source material.

That’s not all, ABC is also producing a mini-series about the serial swindlers – check this out below:

So Richard Dreyfuss or Robert de Niro, Blythe Danner or Michelle Pfeiffer – I think this one is something of a no contest.
