OK buddy, someone needs a time out in the naughty corner because you’ve had yourself a bit of a ‘mare…
Actor Dimitri Diatchenko stands accused of a rather strange crime of passion, allegedly killed and eating a rabbit that belonged to his ex-girlfriend. It is reported that he then threatened to do the same to his ex, sending her pictures of how his dinner was coming along.
He has now recanted on his original story in the wake of the uproar and a police investigation. CNN reports:
[He said] that it was a hoax, that he didn’t really eat the pet.
“This is all a misunderstanding. We got into an argument, but I didn’t kill the bunny,” Diatchenko said.
Instead, he turned the rabbit loose…and purchased rabbit meat to make her think it was the pet he had eaten.
The district attorney’s office aren’t buying his version of events, releasing this statement to the media:
“Diatchenko skinned the pet, cooked it and ate half of it while sending her step-by-step pictures of what he did,” the district attorney’s statement said. “When she returned, the defendant allegedly told her he would do the same to her.”
The actor has been charged and is facing felony counts of cruelty to an animal with a use of knife allegation and criminal threats. If convicted, he faces a potential maximum sentence of four years and eight months in prison.
If you aren’t familiar with Dimitri’s work you’re not alone, he has mostly appeared on TV. His film credits include Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Skulls, Get Smart and G.I. Jane.
He’ll be hoping he can put those acting skills to good use when he tries to convince a jury that the killing was a hoax. Below are some of the photos he is alleged to have sent.
Looks like someone has a case of the crazy eyes, if I was a betting man I may go with guilty on this one.
