Meryl Streep, one of the most respected and revered actresses of all time.
Christina Applegate, starred as a promiscuous teenager in Married with Children and Ron Burgundy’s love interest in Anchorman. We won’t mention the second instalment of that franchise, I’ve seen skin flicks with more convincing performances.
So what do these two have in common? Not very much, although Funny or Die did enlist the latter to play the role of the former in their spoof Meryl: The Lifetime Biopic. This below from LAist:
We get to see Applegate do not such a great job of portraying the multi-Oscar-winner in some of her iconic films—from The Devil Wears Prada to Mama Mia! and Julia and Julia(while drunk). The narrator in the trailer even admits that Applegate was the wrong choice to play Streep, and that the filmmakers struggled to find any real dirt on the actress, “So we made things up,” he says. That may include how Streep is able to fake-cry in movies.
The worst part of it all is I can imagine Meryl watching this and having a good ‘ol laugh about the whole thing. Damn that woman and her constant poise and grace.
