Halloween used to be ladies dressing up as sexy nurses and guys as Dracula, what ever happened to those simpler times?
Following on from yesterday’s outcry over the Caitlyn Jenner costume being sold (that Change.org petition now signed over 6 500 times) we present to you the ‘Lion Killer Dentist Halloween Costume’. We’ll hand over to Mashable to flesh it out:
The incident, according to seller Costumeish.com, was “2015’s most controversial killing” and “has laid bare the rift in American and Zimbabwean attitudes toward exotic game hunting and animal conservation pitting an outraged mob against a Minnesotan dentist in a scandal sure to be remembered for a generation”…
The costume includes a severed lion’s head — obviously — and a smock featuring fake blood splatters, gloves and dentist tools.
Costumeish.com CEO Johnathon Weeks [said] that the costume was created because “they were flooded with requests” but since the costume went live midnight Tuesday, “they’ve yet to sell a single one.”
Now Weeks would have known they would more than likely face a backlash of some sort for the costume, his clever counter being that 15% of the $60 cost would go to a wildlife foundation. A quick head sum reveals that 15% of zero dollars is zero dollars so unlucky for that unnamed foundation then.
I suppose if you wore that costume out and about you would receive some degree of abuse, although it might prove popular in America’s deep south – guns good, kill animals.
