Spanish women are pretty fierce, determined woman – and this story proves no difference.
In the most unfortunate incident, a Spanish women had to take over the flying of a small plane when her husband, the pilot, lost consciousness. Luckily, the air traffic controller at the nearby Seville airport had basic knowledge of the light aircraft she was flying and was able to guide her for around 90 minutes until she crash landed.
The women’s husband was unfortunately declared dead, but it’s not known whether this was before, or as a result of the crash landing she made into the orange groves just 3km short of the runway. She is recovering in hospital and has no potentially fatal injuries.
According to the air traffic controller, the woman had no experience and could hardly read a compass – but he was recorded telling her:
You’re going to land without any problem, OK?
The airport was closed for around two hours as a helicopter and another light aircraft were sent to help guide her to the airport.
