Late last week we brought you the story about how Oscar had made some interesting demands during his stay at the Kgosi Mampuru II prison. The reports first surfaced in the Saturday Star, gathering steam until they were published on sites like CNN.
Without rehashing all the details below are some of the demands we covered in that first story:
During the months he has been there, he has complained about the various aspects of his living conditions and, well, his requests have been answered. He wanted a bath – so they built one in his cell. He complained about his bed, so they got him a new one. He had an issue with his gym equipment so they replaced it. This was all confirmed by Murasiet Mentoor, the regional manager of the Judicial Inspectorate, who reviews hundreds of written prisoner complaints.
It appears this has angered the Pistorius family who have now released this statement:
One feels the phrase ‘farting in the wind’ comes to mind, Oscar’s prison demands the least of his worries when it comes to public perception. That being said, it will be interesting to see how the claims hold up once the complaint has been lodged and whether these demands could count against his parole review.
