Jon Stewart may have hung up his late night talk show boots but that doesn’t mean he’s going away quietly.
Stewart has long been a wrestling fan and was given the honour of MC’ing the WWE Summerslam event. He already has a prior history with the ‘sport’, having earlier this year made a brief cameo that involved skopping wrestler Seth Rollins in his nether regions.
It looks like he has now made amends after making a telling contribution to Rollins’ victory over John Cena. Here’s the Daily Beast’s account:
After a series of suplexes, punches, and ring jumps, and with both fighters reeling, Stewart suddenly darted into the ring wielding a black folding chair. He lunged at a shell-shocked Cena, then lunged at Rollins as the announcers yelled, “What the hell is he doing in there?!”
Then the diminutive ex-Daily Show host made jaws drop when he proceeded to bash Cena in the stomach with the chair before scampering away.
I assume the WWE haven’t made enough money off this show yet and video is hard to come by. This Vine below just about shows what went down:
Rollins pinned Cena afterwards and won some or other title. I’m assuming you’re with me on this one and don’t really care so let’s not bother with those specifics.
I would suggest Trevor Noah waits a while before attempting anything as sinister, there are still a host of people who can’t look past those old tweets and are waiting for a slip up to pounce on.
