It looks like being involved with Scientology will cost you more than your credibility.
Tom Cruise won’t be a happy camper, but as long as one Bayern Munich football player stays away from the teachings of L. Ron Hubbard he should avoid the wrath of the sportswear company Adidas. We’ll clarify with this below from Centrio Times:
…Adidas has included a clause in its sponsorship contract agreement with a Bayern Munich football star player that allowed the said firm to terminate his endorsement if he was found to be involved in Scientology.
…the contract bans being involved with “any organization or association which represents the principles of L. Ron Hubbard.” In layman’s term, a player shouldn’t be connected to any organization heavily monitored by an intelligence agency, and any drug use or something of the sort is also going to lead to the cancellation of the sponsorship deal.
Germany as a whole isn’t all that fond of the cult religion, with their post 1997 stance saying they consider it in conflict with their constitutional law. Here’s what Adidas had to say on the controversial clause according to Metro:
Diversity and tolerance are fundamental values of the Adidas Group. Scientology and other such organisations are incompatible with this… This is a standard clause in our contracts. It’s not about individual athletes.
Scientology has been under the spotlight ever since the documentary exposé Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief. It’s obvious Adidas were ahead of the times on this one, even though dear Tom might disagree.
Thanks Kobus
