Insane Florida Sinkhole That Swallowed Man Reopens

When you lose a brother to a sinkhole, the last thing you need is one occurring in the same spot two years later.

About two years ago, Josh Bush’s body was never found after a sinkhole formed under his bedroom, swallowing him whole just after he had turned in for the night.

Yesterday, the hole reopened. Luckily, the state of Florida had bought the land, demolished the houses that once stood upon it, and fenced off the area – so no one was hurt or swallowed. The hole is about 6m in diameter.

The area has become known as Sinkhole Alley because Florida lies on a bedrock made of limestone that is eaten away by underground water. This create voids, and when the land above them can no longer be supported, it collapses.

The new hole has taken an emotional toll on the Bush family, bringing back painful memories. Josh’s brother, Jeremy said, “I think about it every day. There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think about it.”
