Donald Trump should really stop using Twitter if he wishes to win any political campaign in the near future.
In his latest effort to hate on women who have an opinion, Trump took to Twitter after an interview with CNN’s Megyn Kelly, saying “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes. Blood coming out of her…wherever.” Supposedly misinterpreted as a thinly veiled attempt to turn a period into an insult, instead of apologising, Trump then tweeted the following:
The news went viral and activists have taken to twitter to let Trump know when they are experiencing this natural, reoccurring phenomenon prone to females after they hit puberty. Inspiring the new hashtag #PeriodsAreNotAnInsult, Amber Gordon first tweeted at Trump with:
Now, Trump will unwittingly follow women’s cycles and Gordon has even created a corresponding website that allows users to tweet automatically from a small selection of pre-written tweets. Delicious. Gordon is following all the stories, and aims to put together a collection of anecdotes detailing women’s experiences of people using periods as an insult. Gordon says about Trump:
“This is a man who is known to be sexist. I’ve always been one to say I’d love to stop giving him attention. But I feel like this hashtag is more than Donald Trump. I hope that these conversations around periods can just transcend Donald Trump.”
