Sometimes it feels good to place a little bet on the underdog and root that they come in victorious. Usually it’s one of those ‘rags to riches’ success stories, and the fact that your pocket is lined with the winnings make it all the sweeter.
Then there’s the matter of betting on Donald Trump to become the next U.S. president, the odds being just enough to make throwing your conscience out the window an option. This from Fortune:
14-1 — those are the odds that Donald Trump will win the presidency, according to William Hill, leading British bookmaker.
One client in particular is rooting for The Donald to win with White House in 2016. He has placed 17 separate bets and, if Trump becomes president and the client wins each individual wager, he stands to win almost $70,000.
Those 14-1 odds are pretty surprising, considering how controversial this candidate is. William Hill executives are surprised as well; they had him as a long shot with 150-1 odds when they first started taking bets.
So despite unleashing tirades against immigrants, women and anyone who dares to criticise him his odds have shortened tenfold – go home America, you’re drunk.
Trump is not the front runner for the job with shorter odds available on those below:
Hillary Clinton is the favourite, with even odds. Jeb Bush stands at 7-2,Marco Rubio at 7-1, Scott Walker at 10-1, and Bernie Sanders is just ahead of Trump with 12-1.
This below is Bernie Sanders, who is 73 years old and began his political career in 1971. The fact that he has better odds than Trump fills me with a bit of hope so at least there’s that.
Trump, by the way, is already 69. Apparently that’s also a sexual position he detests because it may possibly result in a smidgeon of pleasure for women.
