I don’t want to step on your childhood here but if you never had the pleasure of bouncing around on a trampoline you missed out big time. Then there was the added bonus of ‘double bouncing’ your friend and sending them flying off the side, although that’s probably just the sadist in me coming out.
Now there is good news for parents and children alike because us Capetonians are in for one hell of a treat. This Saturday, August 8, sees our first trampoline park opening in the city, an 18 000 square foot bouncy behemoth that goes by the name of ‘Jump Around‘. The park will be located at the Table Bay Industrial Park in Paarden Eiland and will have more than 75 giant interlocking trampolines.
That’s not all, mind you, because Jump Around Park will also feature dodgeball, football and basketball courts, space for freestyle jumping and a foam pit to hone your skills before bouncing sky high.
The park is open to anyone older than three and opening day will see free face painting, balloon makers doing their thing and boerie rolls topping up the energy levels. A circus themed aerial extravaganza will feature morph suit artists and superheroes at their best and a portion of all proceeds from the day will go to Ubunye Educare Centre, a local charity that Jump Around has teamed up with.
With Jump Around parks having proven highly successful across Australia and the USA they have increasingly become the go to for birthday parties and corporate events with a difference.
To get the ball rolling they have a little added bonus, an additional R20 off fees for the opening weekend (Saturday until Monday). Junior jumpers under eight will pay just the R80, whilst the rest of us will pay R100.
Ready, steady bounce – if you think you’re too old to enjoy jolling on a trampoline we may have to exchange serious words.
