It’s not unusual for Camps Bay evenings to look like a scene out of Pulp Fiction, but even Tarantino would deem this scene somewhat over-the-top.
If you’ve just joined then please get up to speed by reading this article from Thursday, where we told you about the woman – American marketing exec, Gabriela Kabrins Alban (39) – who was found dead in her Camps Bay Retreat hotel room. Details have started to emerge. The guy involved in this sordid tale is a Guatemalan fellow, by the name Diego Duarte (41). They say he is a man with great wealth and that he is banned from entering the US.
Very spicy indeed.
Finding drugs in a hotel room on the Atlantic Seaboard is quite normal – expected, even. But half a kilo? Surely that’s pushing it? If that doesn’t shock you then listen to this – it sounds like her death stemmed from a ‘horrific sexual assault,’ courtesy of a curling iron. One’s mind struggles to even conceive the scene. A challenge further compounded by the fact that there was a MESSAGE SCRAWLED ON HER BODY IN EXCREMENT.
Listen to this from the Daily Mail:
The American marketing executive murdered at a five-star Cape Town hotel was on vacation with her ‘lover’ when he is alleged to have killed her. Gabriela Kabrins, 39, was found dead at the Camps Bay Retreat Boutique Hotel on Wednesday with a pound of cocaine in her room and Diego Guarte, 41, was taken into custody wandering a nearby beach half naked.
Investigators believe Kabrins was involved in a sex and drugs session that went wrong and charged Guarte in connection with her death on Friday. According to police, Kabrins had been the victim of a horrific sexual assault using a curling iron.
They also revealed a message had been smeared onto her body with her excrement. Police believe that the pair traveled to Cape Town together and were in town for a possible drugs deal.
But let’s find out more about her relationship with this cat.
Speaking to friends of Gabriela, the Daily Mail Online has learned that she left her home in Los Angeles a few weeks ago to spend time with Guarte in his home country of Guatemala before they traveled on to South Africa for a luxury break.
Gabriela had told friends her mysterious Guatemalan boyfriend ‘wasn’t allowed to enter the U.S.’ which sparked concerns among those close to her.
Apparently, “It sounded like Diego was a wealthy guy but something just wasn’t right. Gabriela spent a lot of time down there but she told us that when she went out to walk the dogs she was surrounded by security.”
“‘We can’t say for sure, but we suspected he was some kind of drug dealer and with all that cocaine found in the hotel room in Cape Town maybe there’s some truth to that.”
What the message written in poo said and who did it is clearly coming up in the next episode. But all fingers are pointing to one Diego Duarte.
JUST IN: It seems Duarte has been moved to the hospital wing of Pollsmoor prison – read more about that here.
